Michael Shank Racing with Curb/Agajanian Acura Machines Sport Patriotic Liveries for the Glen

June 22, 2017

Pataksala, OH – Fresh off the team’s victory at Detroit, the Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 machines will have a new look at both Watkins Glen and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as the Ohio-based team celebrates the fourth of July holiday with two brand new liveries.

The back-to-back race events mark Rounds 6 & 7 of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as the series enters the second half of its race calendar.

With the Sahlen's 6 Hours of the Glen taking place just ahead of the Independence Day holiday, both of the No. 86 and No. 93 Acura NSX GT3s feature a new red, white, and blue color scheme that incorporates much of the same design accents of the original Michael Shank Racing full-season livery.

The No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 of Jeff Segal and Ozz Negri features artwork of Uncle Sam while the No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 of Katherine Legge and Andy Lally features artwork of the Statue of Liberty.

The two colorful and unique liveries were created by Acura’s Global Design Chief Dave Marek and applied to the cars utilizing AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology, a partner of Michael Shank Racing that has provided many stunning liveries for the team since 2013.

“For an event so close to the 4th of July, I wanted to incorporate America’s heritage with ACURA’s Spirited Independence,” said Marek of the design. “And being a History major back in the day, the combination of Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam seemed the best representation while retaining the original Michael Shank Racing NSX GT3 graphic intent.”

Michael Shank Racing will make its 20th start in the Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen this year and team owner Mike Shank is proud to have his team displaying its American pride in the historic event.

"Dave (Marek) had a very creative approach to these liveries, so a big thank you to his work because they look incredible,” said Shank. "AERO gave us the flexibility to really knock this one out of the park on these Acuras. Of course with the Glen and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park rounds back-to-back, we’ll be bringing the livery with us to Canada for CTMP as well so we are looking forward to carrying these colors up North."

The Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen event is June 29 – July 1 with the six hour race set to go green on Sunday at 10:10 AM ET. Live coverage of the race begins on FS1 before switching over to FS2 for the second half.

Following the Watkins Glen event, Michael Shank Racing heads straight to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for Round 7 of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
